Goal Setting

It's the 30th of June 2008. I've given myself 5 years to have helped to create the number one personal development site on the web. That's June 30, 2013 - please hold me to this date. With your help I will be able to get there faster.

My intentions are that someone wanting to know what it is like to be an entrepreneur will be able to read this blog and see whether they still want to leave that cushy office job. Anyone that reads a lot of Tim Ferriss will know that while being relatively easy to make the jump ("I quit"), it is far more difficult to get a passive income stream going ("Become an established author on a specialised subject")

First of all - I still work full-time in an accounting firm - which means I get up early to write (Anyone with any interesting studies on Sleep vs Self-Employment please post a link.

Secondly, my attempts to write a book are still very preliminary at this stage so it looks like I'm going to have to bootstrap as much as possible. Read as much Seth Godin as possible, I'm a big fan, especially "The Bootstrapper's Bible".

I'm currently trying to get savvy on the revenue streams that are going to make this business work. But having no experience on revenue streams for websites I'm a little lost. I've been reading an article by Professor Michael Rappa on Web Business models which is really good. But like most interesting things it poses just as many questions (for me) as it answers.

Once I get the revenue streams kosher, the business model scaleable and some numbers that look good in 6 months I'll be cooking with gas.

Saw your link on http://www.blogtrafficschool.com/forums and as you ask for a visit and comment, I decided to do just that.

I have been an entrepreneur most of my adult years. I had a couple of ventures flop, but one thing I learned, is that if one is serious about going into business for themselves, you have to always be prepared to get back on the horse, so to speak, when it bucks you off.

Best of luck on your blog.
